Alberti 154 Malbec Mendoza 2011 Argentina
If you like Argentinean Malbec, and I bet you do, you will enjoy this one. A little less fruity and a bit more earthy/smoky then the usual run. Soft and easy to drink by itself or with a big sword-load of grilled meat, like they do in Argentina. - George

Matias Riccitelli "The apple doesn't fall ..."Malbec Mendoza Argentina

Clos Ouvert Primavera Valle del Maule 2010 Chile
The Clos Ouvert was the first wine project of the young Louis-Antoine Luyt. At the age of 22 he left his native France on the flimsy excuse of brushing up on his Spanish and headed to Chile. A 3 month vacation kept getting extended, and he worked in a restaurant to fund his excursion. He worked his way up from dishwasher to winebuyer (having washed dishes myself, I am particularly impressed with this feat) and eventually came the idea of making wine. Louis-Antoine went back to France to learn the trade of winemaking in Burgundy, and finally returned to Chile with the goal of making natural, non-industrial hands-off wines. Mission accomplished. The first vintage was 2006, but the nascent project nearly stalled when in 2009 an enormous earthquake destroyed 70% of their production. Thankfully, Luyt persevered and we have his wine finally in stock. The blend is 40% Carignan, 30% Paìs, 20% Cinsault and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. -Kyle

Kingston Family Vineyards Tobiano Pinot Noir Casablanca 2009 Chile
Tobiano Pinot Noir has a great back-story. An American family who emigrates to Chile in the early 1900's, send succeeding generations to Harvard and Stanford, and the progeny return to the land in Casablanca; each with a new and successful vision. With a brilliant, young winemaker in Evelyn Vidal and one of California's most masterful,if somewhat unsung heroes,Byron Kosuge, as Consulting Winemaker all they needed was great terroir, which they already had.The result is a delicious, sophisticated wine that does not have to be followed by the phrases: "for the money" or "for Chile." - George

La Yunta Torrontes La Rioja 2009 Argentina
Argentina's most popular white wine. The Torrontes grape has an aroma and flavor similar to Muscat, but with a dry finish. This is easy to drink by itself but will pair easily with a variety of dishes, particularly full flavored, spicy ones.- George
