Vinoterro Saperavi 2003 Republic of Georgia
Vinoterra is one of the most important wineries in the Republic of Georgia. Their production is very small and most of their wines are made in clay pots called Amphora. The Saperavi grape (red) produces a dark, complex wine with plumy fruit, and a slightly smoky aroma.

Pfneiszl Kekfrankos Ujra Egyutt 2007 Hungary
The Hungarians and Austrians both make a wine from Blaufrankish, or Kekfrancos, in Hungarian. Whatever you want to call it this organic beauty was the big favorite at our recent Thursday tasting. Deep, black fruit flavors with a hint of smokiness are evident here, but the wine is light to medium bodied with a complexity not often found in wines twice the price. Hint: decant this for 30-40 minutes before drinking and you will think you are drinking a fancy Burgundy!

Patricius Sarga Muskotaly 2008 Hungary
Another fine offering from Patricius. This muscat carries the traditional floral, leechee aromas but also a nice, grassy sauvignon-like accent. Dry, fresh and a great accompaniment to any spicy dish.

Teliani Valley Tsolikouri 2007 Republic of Georgia
The Georgian Republic is home to the birthplace of winemaking. Tsolikouri is one of the native white grapes. Although it has a funny name it is really pretty easy to love. Bright and minerally with clean fruit, it may remind you of a dry Vouvray or maybe a Pinot Blanc. Don't be scared.

Santomas Malvasia Glavina 2006 Slovenia
Another knockout wine from Slovenia’s Santomas winery. The grape is Malvasia Istriana, less like Muscat or Gewurtztraminer than it is like a peachier Viognier.

Santomas "Big Red" Refošk 2006 Slovenia
Refošk=refosko. One of the main red varietals in Friuli and also just across the border in Slovenia. Recommended for big game, lamb, boar's leg, something rustic.
