Berthoud "Ursus" Sonoma Valley 2002

A remarkably old world style Bordeaux blend from Sonoma. All five of the Bordeaux varieties are utilized. (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.) Open top redwood fermentation vats, a 19th century basket press and a no filtering or fining produce a wine worthy of the name. Ursus is the latin word for Bear. Big and broad-shouldered, this wine will stand up to your heartiest dishes and this is more of a food wine than a drink alone. Why aren't these guys famous?

Storrs "St. Clare Vineyard" Santa Cruz Mountains 2004

We used to order wine from this winery for our good friend Felix who is obsessed with it. After years of special orders, we realized this stuff is LEGIT and it was time to have it on the shelves as well. Merlot based, Merlot is GOOD. Don't be scared of Merlot.
