Elmer T Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Elmer is the retired Master Distiller for Buffalo Trace. He still keeps his hand in by selecting a favorite barrel from each batch of whiskey. This barrel becomes Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon. In this case it has lovely aromas of ripe peaches and honey. If you like the "sweeter"style of bourbon you will enjoy this one.

Old Bardstown Bourbon
Dark and spicy. A concentrated, woodsey finish. Not the buttery, coconut wood flavor, but the smell of a lumber yard. Strong, yes. Hot, no.

Michter's Small Batch Bourbon
This is a dark, corn dominated Bourbon with lots of flavor; some toffee notes and a high pitched pinch of pepper or maybe mint. I've read tasting notes that refer to this as having a sweet finish, but as this is a small batch bourbon, each batch will be a little different. Right now it is batch # E-1, and though it's not very sweet, it sure is good .

Hudson Baby Bourbon by Tuthilltown Spirits
When we met Ralph Erenzo a couple of years ago, we were as excited by his products as he was. One of the things that pleased him the most about the Baby Bourbon is that it is 100% New York corn. This just adds that personal touch that goes into hand crafted spirits. Smooth and a little sweet with a pleasant spice from the barrels, this will keep you warm on the cool nights to come.

Hudson Four Grain Bourbon by Tuthilltown Spirits
An interesting blend of corn, rye, wheat, and barley. Lots of complexity here. Smooth and rich like bourbon, but with the accent of spicy rye. You will also get a hint of sweetness from the barley.

Hudson Manhattan Rye by Tuthilltown Spirits
Rye whiskey made in New York state was quite common before prohibition, but the distilling industry never came back after the ban was lifted. Or, not until recently, by Tuthilltown Spirits, Makers of the fine Hudson whiskies and other spirits. This is a traditional New York rye; aromatic, spicy and a little peppery. Try this in your Manhattan or Old Fashioned and see the difference.

Black Maple Hill Bourbon
The King of small batch Bourbons. Each time it is a blend of different vintages and distilleries, who knows when and where they came from. That's part of the mystique. This current batch is nutty, supple, spicy. NOT SWEET.

Wasmund's Single Malt Whisky
Rick Wasmund was watching the snow fall and tending to his still when I talked with him the other day. He is a genial man who seems to love what he does. He makes a malted whiskey that employs the same method used to make scotch. He uses pure Virginia barley, malts it himself and dries the malt with local oak and cherry wood. The whiskey bears a passing resemblance to scotch but has its own, unique character. Medium bodied, woodsy and mildly fruity.

Buffalo Trace Bourbon
Buffalo Trace is a relatively new brand of small batch bourbon. It's made in batches of 20 to 30 barrels. Very flavorful with a long finish complex aromatics. A little bit of tobacco on the nose. Dry and spicy, not unlike a rye whiskey.

Michter's Rye
The old distillery in Pennsylvania went out of business, but the whiskey is being produced now in Bardstown Kentucky. I find this to be one of the most interesting whiskeys we have. It's a little lighter and spicier than your average Bourbon, also quite dry.
